About this Department
Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the Miller School of Medicine of the University of Miami.
The Department of Biochemsitry and Molecular Biology is home to 25 Primary Faculty, 28 Secondary Faculty, 20 Volunteer and Emeritus Faculty Members, over 260 undergraduate students, over 125 graduate, medical, and MD/PhD students, postdoctoral, medical residents and fellows, research scientists, and a dozen Administrative Staff Members.
Our Core Mission
- Educate and train students to become critical thinkers and leaders in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Generate new knowledge through team science multidisciplinary discovery research
- Translate our discoveries to the clinic
- Serve the scientific and global communities through outreach programs and service in governmental, industrial, and professional organizations
- Promote social justice in science and increase diversity in the STEM fields
